10:30 a.m.

Join Rae Ann Kumelos as she reads her own story "Thunder the Magnificent Mechanical Horse"

Maybe you have noticed the golden mechanical horse that sits in front of the grocery store?  He stands on a pedestal right next to the big red Coke machine.  His name is Thunder.  Every day you can find Thunder in front of the store, staring at the Coke machine, his legs stretched in permanent gallop.  For the price of one quarter, you can even climb onto the gaily painted saddle on Thunder's broad wooden back and pretend you are riding a real horse.

The thing is, Thunder is a real horse.  At least he was, until a mean and clever cowboy named Cal tricked Thunder's young friend, Annabelle, into selling her beloved horse and best friend.  Instead of taking care of Thunder, like he promised Annabelle he would, Cowboy Cal cast a spell on the beautiful palomino and turned Thunder into a mechanical horse.  Now Thunder is destined to spend the rest of his life staring at a big red Cok machine and collecting quarters for Cowboy Cal.

Is there anyone who can save Thunder from this awful fate?

Our craft this week will be an alligator notepad.
